Our Needs
AngelTree is a ministry of Prison Fellowship, which seeks to provide gifts to needy children for Christmas. What separates AngelTree from other charities is its focus on children who have one or more parents incarcerated. AngelTree, itself, provides each surrogate charity with a list of children to buy for based on the amount of children volunteered for. After much shopping and wrapping, a single day is chosen for the presentation of the gifts and a luncheon. Each child in the program receives at least one item of clothing and one toy-like item. These gifts are then presented to the child on behalf of the parent or parents. In other words, the card on the gifts says from "mom" or "dad." The Davenport Church of God takes this one step further to include quilts for the children. Most of these are provided by the gentlemen and ladies of Heartfelt Quilting of Winter Haven.
